                                                       Jesus and the Clown.

Christians view him as the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament and as the Son of God, who provided salvation and reconciliation with God to humankind by dying for their sins, then raising himself from the dead.

Clowns are comical performers, stereotypically characterized by their grotesque appearances: colored wigs, stylistic makeup, outlandish costumes, unusually large footwear, red-nose, etc., who entertain spectators by acting in a hilarious fashion.

Peter Berger writes that "It seems plausible that folly and fools, like religion and magic, meet some deeply rooted needs in human society."

Folly and fools..Religion and Magic, is there really such a peculiar human desire, a need for the comic tragedy of the clown as well as the less than comical tragedy of the crucifixion? I can't yet speak for those on the other side of the water, but here in Spain-in a damp ridden, doily decorated apartment-i believe there is proof.

Jess-this one is for you!
